Brookelyn and Jake got married on theeeee hottest day of 2018, but you’d never know. They came out at the end of the day still looking like a million bucks.

I’m going to let Brookelyn talk more about their day!

Tell us your proposal story!
I wrote this in detail on my wedding website. So I will copy and paste. Jake’s proposal was a complete surprise. And when I say that, I mean 100% complete and utter surprise. I was convinced that we would not be engaged for another year or two. So, when I was gone in the Dominican Republic for a week and he asked if we could go on a nice date when I got back, I thought it was just a normal, sweet request. But Jake also got lucky. I suggested we go down to the canal since Jake had never been; and it just so happened that was Jake’s exactly location planned out for the proposal. That day we spent the entire morning and half the afternoon cleaning. Then Jake suggested we go work out, and we did. When we came back, I figured there wasn’t enough time to wash my hair, get a spray tan, be extra pretty, like I would if I had known he would be proposing that night! So I settled with dirty hair that I re-curled, minimal makeup, but at least a cute outfit. From this point on, I should have known something was up. 1. He suggested we go to St.Elmo’s for dinner. When I said that was too expensive, he said it wasn’t a big deal. 2. He ordered an uber to go downtown (Not too weird, but out of the ordinary) 3. Instead of going to St. Elmo’s right away, we stopped in front of a hotel. 4. He said he wanted to go on a carriage ride. (Ok, I know this should have set off red flags, but seriously, I had convinced myself there was no way he had a ring!) 5. We stopped on the canal and got out. He wanted to walk around a bit, and then he lead me to a bench. 6. Next, he took out a scrapbook he had made and told me how special I was to him. (Guys, I am dead serious, like I really had no idea what was going on.) 7. He stood me up and walked me over behind the bench. He opened the last page and the scrapbook said “Best Day Ever.” He said, “I want to fill this page with pictures from the best day we have ever had.” He got down on one knee, and although I think I was blacked out for most of this, I remember him saying that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and loved me so much. The ring was sooo beautiful, and in complete shock and happiness, I yelled Yes. The rest of the night was amazing. He had done so much planning! He had his family and mine waiting at the restaurant to celebrate with us. Afterwards, he took me to Punch Bowl Social where my closest friends and my entire team was waiting to surprise me. It was a beautiful engagement, and I really could not ask for more.

Did anyone go above and beyond for your wedding day?
My mother in law. She is just an amazing woman. She helped me the most with planning the wedding, and she wasn’t like you need to do this or anything, she was just there to help me do whatever I wanted to do. On the wedding day she hosted the bridal party. She made a mimosa bar, got us lunch, brought last minute items to the venue. She killed it.

Funniest moment from your wedding day?
My maid of honors speech had me in tears. She pinned me so perfectly and gave my husband some really great advice.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
Hmmmmmm, good question. I probably would have tried to find the money to get a planner? Or somebody to help set up the venue. I was setting up the venue, on my own, the day before and the day of the rehearsal. It was so stressful only because I was by myself.

Any advice for future brides/grooms?
Do.What.You.Want.To.Do It is so easy to get caught up in what is normal or expected at weddings when in reality, it doesn’t matter.

What was the most memorable moment of your day?
Saying our vows to each other during the ceremony. I felt like it made the moment so special, and I loved seeing Jake’s reaction.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We waited a year, but it was worth it! We went to Greece and Rome.
